Directional Drilling

Weatherford offers high-powered drilling motors for every formation and bit type. Our PrecisionPulse™ positive displacement drilling mud motors use an adaptation of the Moineau principle in their power sections to convert hydraulic power from drilling fluid into mechanical power, which then drives the bit. These motors are available in a wide variety of sizes and power sections. They provide the right combination of torque, speed and flow capabilities for every formation and bit type.
Drilling Jars
Weatherford maximizes jar reliability by using National Oilwell Griffith Brand Drilling Jars. These jars feature mechanical latches to enhance safety and help prevent unexpected jarring when making connections, tripping in or out of the hole or tagging bottom. And neither a safety clamp nor special handling procedures are required on the rig floor.
Drift Measurement Tool (DMT)
The DMT provides fast and accurate wellbore inclination measurements with minimal effect on drilling operations or rig time. This tool transforms data into a positive mud pulse, which translates into an increase in standpipe pressure.
Magnetic Multi Shot (MMS)
The MMS survey instrument is a photographic tool for taking multiple surveys of a wellbore. The MMS is normally positioned in a non-magnetic drill collar, run above the bit in the drillstring. Surveys are then recorded as the drillstring is tripped in or out of the well.
Gyroscope Technology
Gyroscopes are impervious to magnetic interference and can be used to survey in cased wells or orient directional equipment for re-entry wells. The photographic gyroscope is used primarily to survey wellbores that have already been cased. This instrument can run in casing, tubing or drillstring, using a wireline.
